Crystal Shawanda

Crystal Shawanda was born Native American on the Wikwemikong Native Reservation on Ontario's Manitoulin Island and grew up immersed in all styles of music, especially country. She recorded her first album of original material at age 13 in Nashville, and over the next several years recorded 3 more independent albums. In 2007 she signed to to RCA Records/ Sony Music, and her 2008 major label debut "Dawn of a New Day" was Billboard's highest charting album by a Native American in history, selling over 400,000 copies. Her latest studio album, 2011’s  "Just Like You”, featured the hit single "Closer".
